Statement of Purpose:
Our purpose is to create a divine sisterhood among elite and exceptional women of Second Life built on the principles of character, respect, and diversity. We aim to be of service to the community and to provide a platform for women's empowerment as well as independence. Where building solidarity through sisterhood using innovation, creativity, leadership, and unity creates a platform to enhance the quality of growth in the SL community.
About us:
Alpha Theta Xi is a virtual sorority founded on December 1, 2016 by Ryan Skye Taylor and Stormy Kiev Goodin. Our mission is to create a divine sisterhood among elite and exceptional women of Second Life, while committing our time to public service. We strive to provide a platform for women empowerment, prosperity and independence. Our colors are magenta, white, purple, and grey. They are a combination representing harmony, balance, purity, wholeness, solidarity, spirituality, imagination, and dreams. We are represented by the white dove which symbolizes purity, love, and peace.
Our motto is a quote from the late great Audrey Hepburn, "For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone."
The members of our sorority originate from different backgrounds, but are united as one in our shared values and together we stand as the sisters of Alpha Theta Xi Sorority Inc.
What we do:
As an organization, we host several events in order to service the SL community as well as RL charities. We focus on women's empowerment issues in order to assure that women feel good about themselves and understand their worth. It is important to give back, but also important to have fun while doing so. Our goal is to provide a realistic approach as a sorority to SL greek community.
Dues:
Our monthly dues are 1000 L$ and must be paid by the 10th of every month. Any dues after the 10th will result in a 250 L$ late fee. Dues go directly to the sorority account and are solely for the purpose of benefiting the sorority. The funds received from dues go towards the upkeep of the sorority house, events, clothing, and all other services/goods to better the organization.
Pledging Fee:
A mandatory non-refundable pledging fee of 500L$ is due before you receive your pledge packet. This fee is 100% NOT refundable and will go towards your pledging process. There are no exceptions to this rule. If you have a real life emergency, you can have you fee applied towards a future pledging process within 30-60 days. This fee is to ensure that pledges are participating and taking the process serious.
How Long is Pledging:
Pledging is a six week process consisting of bonding activities as well as planning your probate. You will also have your crossing the day after your last day of pledging in the house.
How Do I pledge:
Recruitment is done by referral/invitation. If you would like to be a part of our sisterhood, you must have a valid recommendation from one of our members or a credible source. We no longer have annual lines nor rush weeks. For more details, contact a member of ATX.
**All members of the sorority are allowed full access to the sorority at no cost. Rooms are available for those that would like to reside in the home as their primary or secondary residence.**
